Worcestershire CCC are preparing to host its 23rd team from the West Indies since 1900 in tomorrow’s (Sunday’s) Women’s Royal London ODI against England at Blackfinch New Road.

But it will be the first appearance by the West Indies Women’s team at the County’s headquarters.

Andrew Thomas, author of ‘Pears 150’ reports that Women’s international games at the County’s headquarters consist of:

Australia – 1951, 1987, 1998, 2005, 2009 and 2015

South Africa – 2000, 2018 (plus a game at Kidderminster in 2005).

New Zealand – 1954, 1984, 1996

India – 1986

Pakistan – 2016

West Indies – 2019

The first international match versus the West Indies at Blackfinch New Road occurred in June 1900 when the men’s side went down to the County by 215 runs.

The most recent game saw West Indies ‘A’ take on Worcestershire CCC in a high scoring game last summer.

The tourists won by 21 runs despite paceman Dillon Pennington taking 5-67 – his maiden five wicket haul for the County – and George Rhodes scoring 95.

Tickets for Sunday’s 50 over ODI are priced just £10 for adults and £1 for juniors (under-17s).

They can be obtained from the Worcestershire CCC website or via the ticket hotline on 01905 337921.
