Westbury Again Amongst Runs Before England Under-19S Collapse

Worcestershire Academy opener Ollie Westbury made another sizeable contribution for England Under-19s who then collapsed against Sri Lanka Under-19s on day one of the second Test at Northampton.

Westbury had struck a superb 196 – the highest ever score by a Worcestershire player at this level – in the first match of the series at Fenners.

England were put in today and Westbury and Max Holden saw their side through to 90-0 off 31 overs by lunch.

But then wickets fell in rapid succession.

Westbury was the first to go when he was trapped lbw by new ball bowler Lahiru Kumara for 45 in the first over after the resumption with the total on 91.

He struck five boundaries in his 108 ball innings.

Kumara then destroyed the middle and lower order and his victims included another Worcestershire Academy player in Josh Dell.

He was also leg before for a seven ball duck after coming in at number five.

But Holden went onto carry his bat for a superb 111 not out and added 48 for the last wicket with Amar Virdi as England were dismissed for 208 in 82.2 overs.

Kumara ended with 7-82 from 28 overs.
