Whiteley And Cox Hit Fifties And Leach Picks Up Two Wickets

Worcestershire enjoyed some successful match practice on day two against Warwickshire at the main Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Ross Whiteley and Ben Cox made half centuries and there were two wickets for Joe Leach.

Worcestershire had made 111-2 off 30 overs in reply to Warwickshire's 300-5 from 60 overs on day one.

Today the roles were reversed with Worcestershire batting for the first 60 overs of the day and Warwickshire the final 30 after tea.

Worcestershire declared overnight and started again this morning and totalled 231-5 from their 60 overs.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore opened on this occasion with Brett D'Oliveira after skipper Daryl Mitchell had scored an unbeaten 55 on day one.

Worcestershire reached 95-2 from 28.5 overs by lunch with Kohler-Cadmore falling to Rikki Clarke for 21 and D'Oliveira trapped lbw by Oliver Hannon-Dalby after making a battling 38 off 98 balls.

Alexei Kervezee was unbeaten on 29 at the interval but did not add to his tally before he was bowled by Clarke.

Whiteley made a typically hard-hitting 71 off 82 balls before he was caught and bowled by Jonathan Trott while Leach was bowled by Hannon-Dalby for a duck.

Cox remained unbeaten on 50 off 73 balls – his second half century following his knock in the T20 match against Essex.

He reached his fifty from the final delivery before tea with Ed Barnard 12 not out.

The Worcestershire bowlers were then put to work in the final session and picked up five wickets as Keith Barker scored 25, Sam Hain 14, Trott nine, Chris Wright one and Andy Umeed a duck with Clarke unbeaten on 60.

Leach finished with 2-16, Barnard 1-14, Charlie Morris 1-15 and Kervezee 1-14.

Worcestershire will play their final match of the tour tomorrow – a 50 over clash against Derbyshire.
