Whiteley And Sultans Face Crunch Clash In Sharjah

ross whiteley’s team, multan sultans, face a make or break clash with islamabad united in the pakistan super league on tuesday.

the worcestershire all-rounder and his team-mates must triumph in sharjah to make sure of their place in the knockout stages.

the sultans got off to a flying start in the competition, with four wins and a no result in their opening six games.

but a trio of successive defeats has seen them drop to fourth position – the last qualifying spot.

if the sultans defeat united, the 2016 champions, they will be guaranteed to go through to the last four.

but should they be beaten, then the 2017 holders, peshawar zalmi, could overhaul them by winning their last two matches – and it would mean whiteley heading back to New Road to continue preparations for the new season.

it has been a winter of learning more about the short formats of the game for whiteley.

he also appeared in the bangladesh premier league (t20) and the inaugural t10 competition in sharjah before the festive season.
