Whiteley And Sultans Relying On Other Results To Qualify For Last Four

Ross Whiteley’s side, Multan Sultans, now have to rely on other results going in their favour if they are to reach the knockout stages of the Pakistan Super League.

The Sultans fate is out of their own hands after they went down by 33 runs to Islamabad United in Sharjah.

They remain in fourth spot – the final qualifying position – but have now completed their group fixtures with nine points from 10 games.

The Sultans will still go through IF Peshawar Zalmi lose either of their final two matches against Karachi Kings tomorrow (March 15) or Lahore Qalandars on Friday.

But Whiteley and Co will be eliminated if Peshawar triumph in both matches.

The Sultans looked to be cruising through the group after winning four and having a no result in their first six matches.

But a quartet of successive setbacks has left them sweating on whether they will progress in the competition.

Whiteley bowled three overs for 45 runs and made 11 off 10 balls batting at number six against Islamabad United who made 185-4 and then bowled out the Sultans for 152 in 19.1 overs.
