Willey Out For Month After New Road Collision With Shantry

Northamptonshire all-rounder David Willey has been ruled out of action until the end of July with the ankle injury suffered at New Road last week.

The England one-day player was batting when he was involved in an accidental collision with Worcestershire Rapids paceman Jack Shantry in the NatWest T20 Blast clash.

Willey was able to complete his innings but then unable to take the field during the Rapids innings.

Now a scan has showed that Willey, who was part of England's winning squad in the ODIs against New Zealand, will be side-lined until the end of next month.

A Northamptonshire statement said: “David sustained ankle ligament damage in our T20 at New Road.

“(An) MRI showed a low grade strain that will keep him sidelined until the back end off July”.
