Women’S Rapids Announce 17 Strong Winter Squad

worcestershire women’s rapids today announced a 17 strong winter squad as they launched their preparations for the 2019 campaign.

the players and coaches gathered to discuss plans for the forthcoming months ahead of next summer’s programme of fixtures.

steve magoffin is the newly appointed lead coach and manager of the rapids pathway programme from under-11 through to the senior side.

the former worcestershire paceman will also be assistant coach to gareth davies with the women’s rapids team.

the rapids enjoyed mixed fortunes during 2018 with the highlight being gaining programme back to division two of the ecb county championship at the first attempt.

they secured their spot via a 97 run play-off win over cornwall at New Road.

two players who played a key part in that superb victory in chloe hill (78) and emily arlott (3-21) are included in the winter squad.

the rapids were also relegated from division one of the challenging ecb county championship t20 competition after gaining promotion in 2017.

the rapids summer squad will be announced closer to the start of the new season.
