Worcestershire chairman Martyn Price has paid tribute to Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes, who has just started his 30th season with the club, and said: "I hope he continues for many years to come."
Former England wicket-keeper Rhodes played for the county for two decades and won numerous honours including two County Championship titles.
He then became assistant coach to Tom Moody before replacing him and taking up his current role at New Road mid-way through the 2005 campaign.
Price, who has started his last year as chairman, said: "Steve might be a Yorkshireman but he has got Worcestershire through his body.
"After he came down to Worcester, Steve was an ever present in the side for all his time here.
"Then he became assistant coach to Tom and then Director of Cricket and I've been delighted with him.
"He's had a really, really tough role to play. We haven't had a great deal of money but he has shopped around and got some good players here, worked on bringing young talent through, and overall he has done a superb job for the club.
"I hope he continues for quite a few more years, many more years to come.
"He is a tremendous worker, I've been very impressed with his work ethic and he is strong and disciplined.
"He gives people a rollicking when they need it but also gives praise when it is deserved. He has turned out to be an excellent Director Of Cricket."
