Worcestershire will today assess the hamstring injury suffered by skipper Daryl Mitchell during Tuesday evening's Royal London One-Day Cup clash against Surrey at the Kia Oval.
Mitchell sustained the setback when running a single from a Jade Dernbach delivery and needed a runner to continue his innings after receiving treatment from county physio Ben Davies.
He eventually was dismissed for a typically fighting 59 off 63 balls as the Rapids gave Surrey a fright before losing by 36 runs.
The 31-year-old is an integral part of the Worcestershire side in all formats and will be keen toplay if at all possible in Friday's home LV = County Championship clash with Nottinghamshire.
Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes said: "We will assess Mitch's injury today and will know more in the next 24 hours about his chances of playing against Notts."
Worcestershire are without a win in the RLC but Mitchell said: "We didn't play badly tonight. Credit to Jason Roy (99) and Kumar Sangakkara (76) who played exceptionally to get them up to that total (328-7) and it's a lot of runs on any wicket.
"I thought we chased reasonably well, lost a few wickets at the end and couldn't quite get over the line.
"We've fought hard in the Championship and played some really good cricket against some really good sides and Twenty20 as gone well as well with a home quarter-final to look forward to.
"Perhaps we've just run out of a bit of steam in this competition and it's difficult to compete on all three fronts."
