Worcs Ccc Academy Player Josh Haynes Sparkles For Malvern College

Worcs Ccc Academy Player Josh Haynes Sparkles For Malvern College

Worcestershire CCC Academy player Josh Haynes produced a superb all-round performance to help Malvern College lift the Chesterton Cup yesterday.

The 17-year-old returned 3-23 with the ball and then smashed a century in double quick time as Malvern triumphed by six wickets over Wrekin College in the 20 over competition.

Josh is the elder of the two Haynes brothers – along with Jack – who are currently part of the Academy intake for 2015-2016.

He scored his maiden century for the Second Eleven against Somerset Seconds at Taunton Vale in April.

Josh helped Malvern to restrict their opponents to 146-8 with his slow left arm spin and then produced a power-hitting display.

He hammered eight sixes and 10 fours – a total of 88 in boundaries – in making exactly 100 off 36 balls.

Josh was given a helping hand by brother Jack with the opening pair plundering 103 off just 6.4 overs before the latter was out for 26.

Only 16 runs were required for victory when Josh was finally second out at 131 in the 11th over.

Malvern College eventually reached 149-4 in exactly 14 overs to win with 36 balls to spare.
