Worcestershire CCC satellite academy player, Archie O'Hara, has picked up a prestigious award.
O'Hara lifted the Midlands Club Cricket Conference (MCCC) Alec Hastilow Under-16 Player Of The Year trophy.
And what makes this splendid achievement all the more meritorious is that batsman O'Hara is only aged 14!
O'Hara, who lives in Tettenhall, has been pupil at Wolverhampton Grammar School for the past five years. He was nominated for the award by his club side Wolverhampton CCC of which Tom Fell is also a member.
Worcestershire academy coach Elliot Wilson (pictured) said: "We would like to congratulate Archie on his award.
"He has been on our satellite academy at Under-14 level and is now with the Under-15s."
O'Hara has been a permanent fixture in his school's first eleven.
Head of Boys' Sport, Nigel Crust, said: “Archie’s skills as a batsman have earned him the title of most promising Under 16 player – an impressive and quite honestly, astounding achievement for someone so young.
"His recorded runs during the last season recorded him as the fifth highest run total in the country (in schools cricket)."
The MCCC overseas Midlands cricket and has provided a range of services including annual awards, representative cricket and youth cricket since 1947.
