Worcs Ccc Trio Help Midlands To Seal Super Fours Title

Worcestershire CCC trio Jack Haynes, Adam Finch and Zain Ul-Hassan all played a role in helping Midlands defeat London-East at Loughborough today to seal the Super Fours 50 over title.

A 69 run success enabled the Midlands to end the 50 over competition with a 100 per cent record from their three matches.

The Midlands opted to bat and Haynes ensured they were given a rapid start in scoring 34 off just 29 balls with six boundaries.

He dominated an opening stand of 40 with Fin Trenouth.

But then Somerset’s Trenouth (165 off 126 balls with 10 sixes and 11 fours) and Warwickshire’s Robert Yates (110 off 123 deliveries with 14 fours) put on 255 for the second wicket.

It was the bedrock of the Midlands massive total of 356-3.

Finch then got to work with the ball and claimed two early wickets to check the London-East’s attempt to chase down such a daunting target.

Sam Hall (53) and Luke Holman (74) were the main contributors for London-East before both fell to Ul-Hassan.

Finch ended with 2-48 and Ul-Hassan 3-46 as London-East were dismissed for 287 in 47.1 overs.

Haynes, Finch and Ul-Hassan will now switch into T20 mode for the conclusion of the Super Fours tomorrow.
