Worcs T20 Blast Signing Munro Amongst Runs For Auckland

Worcestershire Rapids NatWest T20 Blast overseas player Colin Munro was amongst the runs for Auckland in their Plunket Shield clash with visiting Canterbury.

Munro, who is returning to New Road for the 2015 campaign, was second top scorer with a rapid 62 as Auckland recovered to total 294 all out in their first innings.

The 27-year-old hit one six and eight fours in his 59 ball knock asfter coming to the wicket at 17-2.

He dominated a third wicket stand of 78 in 17 overs with Jeet Raval before being third out with 95 on the board.

Munro was the county's second highest scorer in the 2014 T20 Blast behind skipper Daryl Mitchell and will be back in May for the start of this season's short format of the game.

His ability to take on and disrupt the spinners with his reverse sweeping was a key factor in Worcestershire reaching their second quarter-final in three years.

Auckland were 124-5 but then Brad Cachopa hit an unbeaten 131 and shared a last wicket stand of 71 with Dean Bartlett.

Canterbury replied with 340 all out – a first innings lead of 46 – with Munro taking one catch.

Auckland knocked off 29 of the deficit without loss in six overs before the close of the second day of the four-day fixture.
