Worcs To Face Warwicks As Part Of Abu Dhabi Itinerary

Worcs To Face Warwicks As Part Of Abu Dhabi Itinerary

Worcestershire have finalised the itinerary for their pre-season trip to Abu Dhabi next month and they will take on three county sides – including local rivals Warwickshire.

The County will combine a mixture of T20, 50 over and red ball cricket spread over five days with four days warm weather training.

In addition to the Bears, Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes' side will face Essex and Derbyshire.

It is the third year in a row that Worcestershire have organised a visit to the UAE as part of their pre-season plans.

They will fly out from Heathrow on the evening of March 4 and will undertake three days training before tackling County Championship Division Two rivals Essex in a T20 match at the Zayed Nursery ground on March 8.

On the following day, Worcestershire will meet Essex for a 50 over contest at the same venue.

The players will put in another day's training on March 10 before enjoying their only free day of the tour ahead of three days successive cricket.

Worcestershire will tackle Warwickshire in a two-day red ball game on March 12-13 at the Zayed Nursery and then on March 14 face Derbyshire in a 50 over match in the main Zayed Stadium.

It will be the third year in a row that Derbyshire have provided part of the opposition in the UAE.

The players will fly back to Heathrow in the early hours of March 15.

They will also have seven days cricket in this country on their return from the UAE ahead of the opening County Championship match with Kent at New Road beginning on April 10.

Worcestershire will take on Somerset in a two day friendly at Taunton on March 28-29 and also play Warwickshire again at Edgbaston on April 5-6.

But in between they will face Oxford MCCU in a three-day first class fixture at The Parks from March 31 to April 2.
