Xmas Parties Smash All Records With Numbers Up 40 Per Cent

Xmas Parties Smash All Records With Numbers Up 40 Per Cent

Worcestershire CCC's now legendary Christmas Parties have attracted record numbers for 2017 with more than 3,000 festive revellers to be catered for in FIVE different venues at New Road.

Managing Director Jon Graham revealed that the County have attracted 40 per cent more party-goers for December 2016 compared to 12 months ago.

Only a few spaces remaining after Worcestershire opened up three floors of The View – including the Sports Bar – the Graeme Hick Pavilion and 1865 Lounge to cater for the massive demand.

And Graham hopes the success of the Christmas parties will have a significant knock on effect – with clients suitably impressed so as to return to New Road in the New Year when there will be special offers for staging conferences, seminars, corporate events etc

Graham said: "It's a record by a long way. We are about 40 per cent up on last year in terms of numbers for the December Christmas parties.

"We have opened up additional venues, in some instances three floors of The View, 1865 Lounge and Hick Pavilion – and it is testament to what we've done in recent years and a gradual going up of what we see as our standards.

"We are going to have more than 3,000 people coming through the doors in December. That is nearly as many as for a T20 match if you put it into that sort of context.

"It is staggering, the numbers. We are looking forward to it. It is always incredibly busy for the catering team who do a fantastic job.

"We are using the Sports Bar for a couple of party nights. We are convinced that is really going to work well because the view from that ground floor is absolutely fantastic -private balcony, ideal for 50 people, maybe 60, with a dancefloor and DJ.

"There are literally bits and pieces left in terms of places available for 2016 and, if we can't get you in this year, then we are already taking bookings for next year.

"If you have had a good experience, you are keen to book again."

Graham added: "Hopefully it's a bit like from a membership point of view…..one of the reasons why we do all our other events here is to try and get people to become members and watch cricket at Worcester.

"As far as the Christmas parties are concerned, all the local businesses of which there are dozens now coming through December, I think it is really important we see those as our partners as well.

"We are not just about Christmas parties, we are also a very good venue location wise, facilities, catering, you name it for conferences, seminars, events.

"Christmas has become a critical point of what we are but the objective going forward is to ensure that conferences are on a par with that.

"With Faye Rhodes, who is now looking after the conferencing and events side of the business, we are going to be really getting out there and telling people what we are all about.

"We will be looking to do special offers on conferencing facilities in January-February and hopefully the business people who have had a cracking Christmas party here, and the people they have spoken to, will hold their meetings here."
