Honorary Club Medical Officer
With a view to immediate appointment
Worcestershire County Cricket Club is seeking to appoint an Honorary Club Medical Officer for the 2009 season and beyond with responsibility for overseeing the Club’s medical provision for the Players in an advisory capacity.
The Honorary Club Medical officer will be a key point of contact for the Director of cricket, the County Physiotherapist and the Strength & Conditioning Coach within WCCC in a consultation and best practice capacity. The individual would also be expected to take a lead role in the development and instigation of robust policies that support player adherence to doping regulations and work with the club physiotherapist to ensure that there are suitable clinical referral networks in place should they be required.
Working within a multidisciplinary team of staff, you will support and advise on the delivery of sports medicine that is both preventative and reactive and which will enhance performance outcomes. You will also help the Club achieve the levels of medical provision required by the England & Wales Cricket Board.
You should ideally have:
- Full registration with the GMC (or equivalent) for a minimum of 8 years
- A post graduate qualification in Sports (and Exercise) Medicine at Diploma level or equivalent with verifiable clinical training in sports medicine
- Experience in the provision of medical services to elite/ professional athletes and coaches. It would be preferable if this experience included work with national teams and also in the sport of cricket or team sports.
We are interested in hearing from committed practitioners that understand professional sport and have experience of working with high performing athletes. In the first instance we are looking for someone to provide the equivalent of 2/3 days per month to work with the coaches and medical support team on a flexible basis during key parts of the season.
The role is regarded as an Honorary role and will be recognised as a key position with the Club. The holder of the post will receive a package of membership benefits to Worcestershire CCC.
If this could be of interest, please email a brief CV with contact details to Mark Newton, the Club’s Chief Executive, at mark.newton@wccc.co.uk on a private & confidential basis.
