On the opening day of the three-day friendly match at Dean Close School, Cheltenham Worcestershire, in reply to Gloucestershire's 349-7 declared, were 10-1 at stumps.
Gloucestershire were put into bat but centuries from both Gareth Roderick (147) and Richard Coughtrie (100*) took the home side into a good position once they declared in the 100th over.
For Worcestershire the wickets were taken by Nick Harrison (2-43 off 14.2 overs), Brett D'Oliveira (2-45 off 15 overs), Graeme Cessford (2-86 off 19 overs) and Jack Shantry (1-51 off 18 overs).
The visitors then had to bat for 3 overs and they lost the wicket of Shaaiq Choudhry (8) with the last ball of the day.
Worcestershire, in their first innings, declared on 272-9 off 85.4 overs, with Ben Cox top-scoring with 73 off 117 balls, with 14 fours, followed by 42 from Connor Smith, on his 2nd XI debut, and 38 from Steve Leach.
With a first innings lead of 77 runs Gloucestershire ended the day on 71-3 off 20 overs, an overall lead of 148 runs, with the wickets taken by Brett D'Oliveira (1-5 off 3 overs), Nick Harrison (1-13 off 4 overs) and Joe Leach (1-16 off 2 overs).
Gloucestershire batted throughout the morning session and they eventually declared, in their second innings, on 211-7 off 50.4 overs. Brett D'Oliveira (3-47 off 15 overs) was the leading wicket-taker for Worcestershire, with the other wickets taken by Jack Shantry (1-26 off 9.4 overs), Joe Leach (1-29 off 4 overs), Nick Harrison (1-36 off 8 overs) and Graeme Cessford (1-36 off 11 overs).
After lunch Worcestershire required 289 runs to win but after being on 155-2 the visitors, after tea, lost their last 8 wickets for 60 runs as Worcestershire were all out for 215 off 64.3 overs, with 15 minutes remaining of the day's play, and lost by 73 runs.
Ben Cox top-scored with 51, with only two other batsmen, Joe Leach (40) and George Rhodes (32), scoring over 30 runs for Worcestershire.
