Worcestershire lost their 2nd XI Trophy match by 10 runs against the MCC Young Cricketers at High Wycombe.
The Young Cricketers won the toss and elected to bat first and in their 40 overs scored 276-6, with Stuart Poynter top-scoring with 74, with the wickets taken by Naqaash Tahir (2-45 off 8 overs), Nick Harrison (2-49 off 5 overs), Joe Leach (1-47 off 7 overs) and Brett D'Oliveira (1-56 off 8 overs).
In reply Worcestershire were in trouble at 71-4, with J Leach scoring 41, but a fifth wicket partnership of 188 between D'Oliveira and Alex Hepburn looked to have swung the match in Worcestershire's favour until the wicket of D'Oliveira, who scored 93 off 86 balls, with 11 fours and 1 six, proved to be costly as the visitors fell 10 runs short, as they ended up on 266-6 from their 40 overs, with Hepburn unbeaten on 101 off 77 balls, with 11 fours and 2 sixes.

The MCC Young Cricketers won the toss and elected to bat first and they were all out for 262 off 73.2 overs. Chris Piesley top-scored with 102 off 105 balls, with 13 fours and 2 sixes, with the wickets taken by Naqaash Tahir (3-52 off 17 overs), Richard Jones (3-53 off 16 overs), Brett D'Oliveira (2-19 off 10.2 overs) and Joe Leach (2-57 off 14 overs).
In reply Worcestershire closed on 90-1 off 30 overs, trailing by 172 runs, with J Leach not out on 47 off 86 balls and Steve Leach unbeaten on 36 off 90 balls.
Worcestershire built up a useful lead of 150 runs after the second day against the MCC Young Cricketers at High Wycombe.
Joe Leach top-scored with 67 off 123 balls, with 12 fours, and with other half-centuries from Logan Weston (64 off 61 balls, with 7 fours and 3 sixes), Steve Leach (55 off 127 balls, with 10 fours) and Alex Hepburn (55 off 77 balls, with 9 fours) plus useful contributions from Richard Jones (43), Naqaash Tahir (37) and Nick Harrison (34*) the visitors were 412-9 before the rain arrived after 5pm to end proceedings for the day.
