CHAMPIONSHIP DAY 1
Derbyshire won the toss and elected to bat first and had reached 90-0 off 26 overs at lunch.
But no play was possible after lunch due to rain and play was abandoned for the day at 5pm.
Ben Slater (52*) and Paul Borrington (34*) were the two not out batsmen for Derbyshire.
No play was possible until 2:55pm because of rain and once play had resumed Derbyshire, in their first innings, had moved on to 270-6 off 95 overs at stumps.
Ben Slater (78) and Paul Borrington (76) were the main contributors for Derbyshire whilst for Worcestershire the wickets were taken by Naqaash Tahir (2-50 off 23 overs), Richard Jones (2-58 off 18 overs), Graeme Cessford (1-50 off 20 overs) and Toby Bulcock (1-51 off 15 overs).
Derbyshire, in their first innings, eventually declared on 320-8 off 104.3 overs and with Worcestershire forfeiting their first innings and Derbyshire forfeiting their second innings it meant that the home side required 321 runs to win off a minimum of 84 overs.
But Worcestershire were nowhere near their target as at one stage the home side had slumped to 47-7. Although Joe Dodd (39) and Naqaash Tahir (24*) resisted by putting on 42 for the last wicket Worcestershire were all out before tea for 128 off 53.1 overs to lose by 192 runs.
