Worcestershire County cricketer Moeen Ali today joins a host of high profile cricketers in supporting ‘Batting for Charity’, an initiative organised by County Championship sponsors LV=.
The charity initiative will see Ali display an LV= sticker on his bats for the remainder of the cricket season and in return, LV= will donate £250 to the charity Interpal, as nominated by Ali.
Interpal is a non-political charity founded in 1994, that works in Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan with the aim to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people by providing relief and development to those in need.
Ibrahim Hewitt, Chairman of Interpal, commented: "We are very grateful for the donation from LV=, it will make a real difference to the work that we do. To have Moeen championing our cause on the cricket field is just great and everyone involved with the charity will be cheering Moeen on for the rest of the season."
Worcestershire batsman Moeen Ali added: “I am delighted to be able to hand my support to Interpal this season. It is an incredibly worthy cause which is close to my heart. The support and help the charity offers people is second to none and I hope my donation can help them continue their excellent work.”
Ali joins a host of LV= County Championship cricketers, such as Warwickshire’s Tim Ambrose, Derbyshire’s Wayne Madsen and James Middlebrook of Northamptonshire, taking part in LV=’s charity initiative.
Claire Jeromson, LV= Head of Sponsorship added: “It’s great to be partnering with County Championship cricketers such as Moeen to help them support the charities close to their hearts. We launched this initiative last season and had an incredibly positive response and we hope this year’s donations will help support the great work these charities do.”
