Worcestershire County Cricket Club is pleased to announce that Joe Leach and Charlie Morris have both signed contracts to remain at New Road.
Leach, the right hand batsman has extended his current contract until the end of the 2014 season. In only six appearances in the 2013 LV= County Championship, he has clocked up a total of 260 runs at an average of 37.14. The 23 year old also hit his maiden First Class century against Gloucestershire back in July.
Leach commented, "I am delighted to have signed a new contract for the 2014 season and hope that it will be a successful campaign both personally and for the team."
Medium-fast bowler Charlie Morris, will serve the county on a Summer Scholarship during the 2014 season, before switching to a full contract securing his future at the Club until the end of the 2015 season.
Morris featured in Worcestershire CCC's Yorkshire Bank 40 campaign this summer and collected his best List A return of 2-25 at Trent Bridge. The 21 year old was also awarded his Worcestershire debut in our New Road clash with the touring Australians, scoring 25 not out.
Morris commented, "I am delighted that the Club has offered me a full contract for after I finish my studies at University. It's an honour to be a part of the Club and has been a dream to play professional cricket. However, I am aware that the hard work begins now and I'm excited for the opportunities ahead and hopefully contributing to the future success of the Club."
Director of Cricket, Steve Rhodes commented "Both Joe and Charlie have shown great promise in the early stages of their cricketing careers. We look forward to seeing the duo reach their full potential."
