Academy Bowler Davis Amongst Wickets As Oe’s Triumph

Worcestershire Academy paceman Matt Davis was amongst the wickets as Old Elizabethans defeated Wombourne by 59 runs in a Birmingham and District Premier League Division Two fixture.

Old E's totalled an impressive 208-7 in their 29 overs and then Wombourne reached 36-0 in reply.

But Davis helped to reduce them to 56-5 with a three wicket burst in which he dismissed Adam Quiney, Will Cook and Karl Quiney.

He finished with 3-30 from his six over spell as Wombourne were bowled out for 149 in 26.5 overs.

Much of the league programme was decimated by the weather but a few Worcestershire players were able to taste action.

Alex Hepburn bowled seven overs for 29 runs and was dismissed for a duck as Berkswell were bowled out for 121 in pursuit of a Knowle and Dorridge target of 177 in 40 overs in the Premier Division.

In the same division, Ollie Westbury made 13 and Academy player Dillon Pennington 24 as Shrewsbury totalled 164-7 in 35 overs and then bowled out West Bromwich Dartmouth for 141 in 34.1 overs.

In Division One, another Academy player in Jack Haynes made 15 of Barnard Green's 123-9 in 35 overs before they bowled out Shifnal for 84 in 29 overs despite 28 from Connor Dudley who is playing on Monday for Worcestershire Seconds.
