Captain Michael Clarke dedicated Australia's World Cup success to their former player Phil Hughes who played for Worcestershire during the 2012 season.
Hughes, who enjoyed a prolific spell in T20 and 40 over cricket at New Road, was tragically killed at the age of 25 in November after being struck on the head by a bouncer.
Clarke, speaking after Australia's seven wicket win over New Zealand in the final in Melbourne, said: "I think for everybody in Australian cricket it's been a really tough few months.
"I'm sure I don't just speak for myself. I'm sure everybody standing on this stage will say we've played this World Cup with 16 players and this is certainly dedicated to our little brother and our team-mate Phillip Hughes.
"He used to party as good as anyone so I'll make sure we drink two beers at a time tonight, one for Hughesy and one for us."
Clarke wore a black armband in honour of Hughes and added: "As you can see it's got PH on it and I'll wear it every game I play for Australia."
The Worcestershire players paid their own tribute to Hughes by wearing a special one-off kit during the recent pre-season tour of Abu Dhabi.
An unbeaten 56 from former Worcestershire T20 player, Steve Smith, helped Australia reach their modest 184 target with 16.5 overs to spare.
