Wayne Parnell top-scored when making his Pakistan Super League bow for champions Islamabad United but ended on the losing side.

The Worcestershire all-rounder was brought into the side for Islamabad’s third game in the competition against Quetta Gladiators in Dubai.

Parnell, who will start a three year contract at Blackfinch New Road for the 2019 season, came to the wicket with United 82-6 in the 13th over.

The 29-year-old responded in positive fashion to a challenging situation by making 41 off just 20 deliveries.

Parnell, one of the Rapids Vitality Blast heroes during the second half of last summer’s T20 campaign, struck one six and seven fours.

He was eighth out at 144 in the penultimate over of the innings.

Islamabad totalled 157-8 in their 20 overs but Australian opener Shane Watson ensured that Quetta made light work of their target.

He struck an unbeaten 81 as they reached 161-3 with 10 balls to spare. Parnell bowled one over for 16 runs.

Islamabad have won one of their opening three games.
