COUNTY KEEPER BEN SIGNS FOR SOUTHERN DISTRICTS DOWN UNDER

Worcestershire wicket-keeper batsman Ben Cox is looking forward to a fourth spell of grade cricket in Australia after signing to play for Southern Districts.

Cox will spend the winter in Adelaide playing in the South Australia Cricket Association first grade competition and flew out this week to link up with his team-mates.

He has joined forces with County colleague and spinner Ben Twohig who has arrived to start a second spell with Southern Districts.

It will be 26-year-old Cox’s third stint in Adelaide.

He had previously played there for Adelaide CC and Northern Districts while his other spell in Australia was for Melbourne side Greenvale Kangaroos.

Cox will play for Southern Districts until late February before re-joining with Worcestershire for the finale of their pre-season programme.

He has also had a stint in the past playing in Cape Town, South Africa and last winter was part of the Otago Volts side in New Zealand’s Super Smash T20 competition.

Cox’s County colleague, Josh Dell, is also playing grade cricket this winter in Australia for Mosman CC.
