Ben Cox and Jack Shantry made an immediate impact for the Greenvale Kangaroos who achieved a thrilling five wicket away win over Melbourne in a Victorian Bartercard Premier Cricket encounter.
The Worcestershire duo helped their side to triumph and chase down a 268 target with just one ball to spare at the Albert Ground.
Cox continued the good form he had shown this summer at New Road with the bat in hitting 57 off 44 balls before being fifth out in the penultimate over.
But Shantry, who came in at number six, remained unbeaten on 22 from 18 balls as the Kangaroos scrambled a bye off the fifth ball of the 50th over.
Melbourne had totalled 267-4 thanks to opener Matt Brown's unbeaten 148 which contained 10 fours and eight sixes.
Shantry, who finished the 2014 season at New Road with 56 wickets in the LV = County Championship, returned figures of 1-40 and Cox stumped Seb Gotch.
Alex Kerr – 53 off 51 balls – and 19-year-old skipper James Lidgett with 81 off 109 deliveries were the other Kangaroos main run-scorers before Cox and Shantry's key roles.
Worcestershire opener Richard Oliver hit a century as he skippered Geelong City to a 51 run win away to Murgheboluc and a six point haul in a Geelong Cricket Association Division One match.
The left hander made 116 out of Geelong's 239-3 in 50 overs after he elected to bat. Oliver was third out at 175 when he was bowled by J. Grozdanovski.
But Oliver then in turn caught opener Grozdanovski after he had made 76. He was sixth out at 137 as Murgheboluc were dismissed for 188 in 46 overs.
