England Star Brunt Relishing Chance To Return To New Road For Ashes Clash

England pace bowler Katherine Brunt is relishing the chance to return to New Road for next summer's Royal London Women's Ashes One-Day International on July 26 as she looks to emulate her previous success against Australia on the ground.

Brunt, who has been undertaking coaching work for the Worcestershire Cricket Board during the past six months, has played two of her nine Tests against Australia at New Road and returned impressive figures.

In 2005 Brunt achieved her highest Test score of 52 and had match bowling analysis figures of 9-111 as England triumphed by six wickets.

Four years later she returned to New Road for another Ashes Test and scored 27 and returned figures of 7-133 although this time the match ended in a draw.

The 29-year-old is now confident of firing on all cylinders by next July when England will play three Royal London ODIs, the Kia Test and three NatWest T20 matches to decide the destination of Ashes.

Brunt said: "I love these series. They test your skills to the maximum.

"It is very competitive and it is a chance to showcase your skills across all three formats.

"I'm really happy to be fully fit and by July next year hopefully I can be back to my best and contributing massively.

"I'm probably most looking forward to playing at New Road because history suggests I play my best against Australia there."

But next on the agenda for Brunt and her team-mates are three T20s and five ODIs in New Zealand this winter.
