Hepburn Completes Ten Wicket Haul As Seconds Triumph

Alex Hepburn completed the first 10 wicket match haul of his career for Worcestershire Seconds who completed an innings and 133 run win over MCC Young Cricketers in the Second Eleven Championship clash at Barnt Green.

Hepburn followed up his 5-77 in the first innings with 5-43 as MCC YC were bowled out for 153 in 54.4 overs.

It gave the Australian all-rounder match superb figures of 39.4-8-120-10 and surpassed his previous best match analysis for the Seconds of 7-91.

His new ball partner Alex Wilkinson also made a telling contribution with six wickets in the game.

Worcestershire were also able to celebrate their first Championship win of the campaign after narrowly losing the opening match to Warwickshire at RGS Worcester in a match that could have gone either way.

MCC YC had resumed on 129-9 and the biggest threat to Worcestershire's victory hopes was the weather.

No play was possible before lunch and when proceeding finally got underway at 1.10pm the visitors were in no mood to throw in the towel.

They survived for a further 12.1 overs today before Hepburn completed his nap hand by dismissing Praven Sivarajah for 15.

It sealed a comprehensive win in a game where Tom Fell set the Worcestershire record for the highest score in the Championship – 223.

Victory also completed a fine week for coach Kevin Sharp's side who are firmly on course to reach the semi-finals of the Trophy competition after defeating MCC YC at Kidderminster on Tuesday.
