Worcestershire Academy launch their Tri-Series campaign against Leicestershire and Northamptonshire with a T20 day at Barnt Green on Sunday.

The County will also play against the same opponents in two 50 over and two three-day matches to determine an overall winner of the series.

It was a competition brought in last season and allows the Academy to play matches with a competitive edge as opposed to friendlies.

The opening game on Sunday between Worcestershire and Leicestershire will start at 10.30am followed by Leicestershire v Northamptonshire (1.30pm) and Worcestershire and Northamptonshire (4.40pm).

Academy Coach Elliot Wilson said: “Last year for the first time we organised some competitive cricket where ourselves, Northamptonshire and Leicestershire played some games. It is good to be playing for something.”

Worcestershire will visit Leicestershire for a 50 over game at Uppingham on July 1 and play host to a three-day match at Bromsgrove from August 14-16.

They will then entertain Northamptonshire for a 50 over contest at Dumbleton on August 21 and travel to Desborough to face them in the three-dayer from August 28-30.

Wilson has named a 12 man squad and the Academy will choose from:
