ACADEMY PATHWAY PLAYER WALKER HITS HALF CENTURY AT BUNBURYS FOR MIDLANDS

Worcestershire CCC Academy pathway player Ollie Walker struck an unbeaten half century for the Midlands on the opening day of the 33rd Bunbury Festival at Felsted School.

Walker, who plays for Beacon Cricket Club, opened the batting after the Midlands chose to bat against London-East and hit an unbeaten 64.

He struck five sixes and two fours in his 70 ball knock.

Walker shared in partnerships of 66 with Ashish Chakrapani (25) and 54 with Rehan Ahmed (31) as the Midlands totalled 147-2 in their 20 overs.

But London-East triumphed by eight wickets with 10 balls to spare despite Worcestershire full Academy player Rehan Edavaleth bowling a tidy spell.

Edavaleth, previously a member of the sateliite academy, made the first breakthrough in dismissing Vikas Kokkiligadda for 36.

He ended with figures of 4-0-23-1.

An undefeated 68 off 49 balls from Nathan Fernandes saw London-East across the finishing line.
