Worcestershire Academy Player Of The Year Alex Milton has had a few months to remember with scoring his first century for the Second Eleven and then one for his club side Claremont in South Africa.
Now Malvern College product Milton is to play for the MCC Young Cricketers next summer.
Here he reflects on a memorable period in his promising career.
Question: What did it mean to you to get your first 100 for Claremont particularly when the side was in quite a tricky position?
Answer: It meant a lot to score that hundred. We were under a lot of pressure after being 150 behind.
The team hasn't had the best start to the season so it was great to get some momentum back and hopefully start pushing back up the table.
Question: What is the standard of the cricket like compared to Second Eleven and what sort of wickets are they compared to England?
Answer: The standard is very good. They play their cricket very hard on the field but are great off the field. There is normally an up and coming or ex-professional in each team.
The wickets vary from a batting paradise to a bowler friendly wicket.
Question: You've come through from Malvern College. How much inspiration do you take from the way Tom Kohler-Cadmore has progressed into the Worcestershire first team?
Answer: Tom has done very well for himself so far. He was a great guy to be around at school and especially out in the middle!
Hopefully I can follow in his footsteps.
Question: There seems to be a very good link up between Worcestershire and Malvern College?
Answer: Yes, there's a great connection between the College and Worcestershire. It's very convenient as the county train at the school's sports complex, meaning that sessions could be arranged very easily.
Question: You were in prolific form for the College last year, I think at one stage you scored four 100s on the trot. Has it been a good learning experience?
Answer: I have learnt a lot from Malvern. I was helped by the coaches Mark Hardinges and Noel Brett, both technically and mentally.
Question: You got into the county Second Eleven and scored your first 100 in the three day game against Middlesex at Radlett. That was another milestone ticked off.
Answer: It was a great few days. We had a good start to the match, bowling very well and we just kept going.
It was amazing to bring up my maiden hundred for the Seconds and a day I won't forget.
Question: Next year you are going to play for MCC Young Cricketers. How did that come about?
Answer: I played against the MCC YC for the Seconds in a one day match last season so this is how I got to know about them.
I then had a trial game for them at the end of the season and I was lucky enough to be offered a contract, which I'm very grateful for.
Question: What is your preferred spot in the batting order?
Answer: I like batting anywhere in the top four.
Question: Do you learn a lot from the Worcestershire players and coaching staff and is anyone in particular a big help?
Answer: Bumpy (Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes) has helped me a lot with my keeping and Damian D'Oliveira helped me so much with my batting.
Kevin Sharpe (batting and Second Eleven coach) and Gavin Haynes have also helped a lot with my batting. Elliot Wilson (Academy coach) and David Banks gave me new ideas when thinking about match tactics.
Question: Have you any cricketing heroes?
Answer: Sachin Tandulkar and AB de Villiers.They are both unbelievable players who I could watch all day.
