Worcestershire County Cricket Club are today launching their new look website which will give supporters the most up to date score information and match statistics possible – starting with tonight’s NatWest T20 Blast derby against Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston, with a live feed from Opta Stats to the website.
Fans and county members will be able to access ball by ball of every Worcestershire CCC game in the Specsavers County Championship, Royal London One-Day Cup and T20 Blast rather than having to access other sites for such info.
Those New Road followers who also love cricket stats will be able to feast on batting and bowling info, wagon wheels of individual innings and Manhattan tracking
All the customary reports and breakdown on the first team, second eleven, Academy and development sides will continue to be provided via our comprehensive coverage.
The new website has been built by the County’s creative partners – WeAreBeard – and, as it evolves during the next few weeks, will become the ‘go-to’ website for all things Worcestershire CCC.
Managing Director Jon Graham is delighted with the end product and feels it was time for the Worcestershire CCC website to take a significant step forward
He said: “We have had our current website for a few years and, when that was launched, it was very good product for the time.
“But technology moves on very quickly, certainly things to do with the internet and websites, and it is probably fair to say the current website had run its course.
“We have been discussing with Beard, who are out creative partner, if they would be willing to partner up and do something a little bit different with the website. The sole objective of the project was to ensure that all Worcs CCC supporters that want live updates of any fixture visit www.wccc.co.uk and no other site.
“We want to drive as much traffic to our website as we can and the only way we could do that was to make something that has got all the information you could ever want about any player, about any game. We’ve also teamed up with Opta Stats to deliver that information.”
So how will supporters access the raft of information?
Jon Graham explained: “You will see what the match score is on the ‘HOME’ page and if you click on the actual match itself, it will break down bowling stats, batting stats, wagon wheels, everything.
“It is a way of getting Supporters bang up to date with every ball bowled, every ball scored by Worcestershire.
“When Joe Clarke scores another hundred you will be able to see where he scores his runs. It’s that in depth. If you love your stats, you can’t have any more than we have got.
“It has been a massive piece of work and tonight is our biggest away game. A lot of Worcestershire supporters will be keen to see how the game is progressing so we felt it would be a good day to launch the site.
“It has gone through testing, it is an evolving piece of work but what people will see today is the background of things being very much Rapids branded.
“That will remain until Sunday when we revert back to the four-day game against Sussex and all of the imagery and background will change.”
Graham added: “We will still be providing all the information we pride ourselves on delivery on first team, second team, academy, development sides etc
“If you want to find out a second team result from two months ago, the scorecard will be there.
“The summary message is we built this to be the go to site for Worcestershire CCC supporters and the reason we are doing that is we have listened to a lot of feedback.
“The feeling is as far as live scores and scorecards and analysis is concerned, there is not enough information on our website and people are going elsewhere.
“When you go on the site, you will get a feel for what a massive piece of work it is and Beard have done a brilliant job.
“It is obviously going to evolve over a period of time but for today, we think once people start to use it, it will be the destination for all things Worcestershire cricket.”
