Ajmal Retains Category ‘a’ Central Contract With Pakistan

Saeed Ajmal has retained his Category 'A' top-level status on the list of Pakistan's centrally contracted players.

The spinner, who picked up 63 LV = County Championship wickets for Worcestershire last season, has remained on the list despite being currently banned from international cricket.

Only six players are in the Category 'A' bracket with Ajmal alongside captain Misbah-ul-Haq, batsmen Younis Khan and Mohammad Hafeez, all-rounder Shahid Afridi and pace bowler Junaid Khan.

The 37-year-old will have his remodelled bowling action tested at the ICC biomechanics centre in Chennai, India, on January 24.

He is currently continuing to work on perfecting his new action and has been at Edgbaston this week.

Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes has confirmed his desire to resign Ajmal for 2015 if he gets ICC approval for his action.

Ajmal has been banned from international cricket since September after his action was reported during the Test with Sri Lanka in Galle the previous month.
