Gareth Andrew enjoyed a successful day with the bat and ball for Worcestershire on the second day of the LV = County Championship clash with Division One champions Yorkshire at New Road.
The 31-year-old scored 59 to shepherd Worcestershire to three batting points and an all out total of 311 from 93.3 overs.
Andrew and the ever dependable Jack Shantry then picked up four wickets apiece as Yorkshire reached 298-9 by the close.
National selector James Whittaker, national spin bowling coach Peter Such and ECB technical director of elite cricketing coaching, Andy Flower, were present at New Road.
Worcestershire resumed on 264-8 from 82 overs with Jack Brooks and Ryan Sidebottom sharing the attack with a second new ball which was just two overs old.
Andrew, in his first Championship appearance for 11 months after his lumbar pedicle fracture, reached his half century off just 59 balls with his 10th boundary – off Brooks.
At that stage he had scored 52 of the 79 runs scored while at the wicket.
New overseas player Sacithra Senanayake provided staunch solid support before getting off the mark with a boundary against Sidebottom from the 24th ball he faced.
The partnership ended at 298-9 when Andrew went to manouvere Brooks on the leg side, was turned around and fell to a low catch at first slip by Alex Lees.
The all-rounder faced 70 deliveries and struck 11 fours. The 300 – and a third batting point – came up via a no ball from Brooks in the 90th over.
The innings ended when Senanayake (13) was caught at deep mid wicket by Will Rhodes to give Brooks a fifth wicket. He finished with 5-56 from 21.3 overs.
Morris gave Worcestershire the perfect start when Will Rhodes (0) drove at a full length ball and was caught by skipper Daryl Mitchell at second slip.
It became 3-2 when new Yorkshire signing Cheteshwar Pujara (0) edged Andrew and fell to a superb catch by Tom Fell at third slip.
New batsman Richard Pyrah had a let off on five when he was dropped at first slip by Alex Gidman off Andrew with 13 on the board.
Alex Lees and Pyrah led a counter attack with the former hitting sixes off change bowlers Senanayake and Jack Shantry as Yorkshire reached 60-2 off 16 overs by lunch.
Andrew and Morris returned to the attack after the interval and Lees reached his half century off 60 balls with two sixes and six fours.
The 100 stand between Lees and Pyrah came up in 18 overs but then Shantry redressed the balance with two wickets in four overs.
First Pyrah (43) drove at the left armer and was caught by Mitchell at second slip.
Then Jack Leaning was adjudged lbw for 10 after playing back and looking to work the ball to leg to leave Yorkshire on 127-4.
Moeen Ali was introduced into the attack at 167-4 after 45 overs.
Andrew returned for a third spell and he ended Lees fine innings on 87 when he was adjudged lbw.
Lees struck 10 fours and two sixes in his 135 ball knock. Andrew picked up his third wicket when Andrew Hodd steered a delivery into the hands of Mitchell who held onto his third catch of the innings.
Shantry then bowled Steve Patterson (0) with a ball angled in which straightened up and hit the top of off stump at 193-7.
Ryan Sidebottom offered solid support to Tim Bresnan until he was forced to retire hurt on 10 with a tweaked calf. Bresnan reached his 50 off 57 balls with eight fours and found another willing ally in Jack Brooks in adding 57 in 13 overs.
Andrew broke the stand when having Brooks caught behind for 26 and then Karl Carver fell to a sharp catch by Richard Oliver at short leg off Shantry.
Bresnan finished unbeaten on 78 with Andrew returning 4-81 from 20 overs and Shantry 4-60 from 21 overs.
