Andrew: Latest News As All-Rounder Strives To Overcome Back Problem

Worcestershire all-rounder Gareth Andrew has undergone another scan today to determine the progress he has made in recovering from his back problem.

The 30-year-old went through a spell of strengthening and conditioning work at New Road this week before having an injection and then the scan.

Andrew has not been able to bowl since the opening four LV = County Championship matches of the season in which he picked up 20 wickets and impressed with the new ball after filling the role previously held by the retired Alan Richardson.

He has been playing purely as a batsman when skippering the Second Eleven as part of his rehabilitation process since having a previous scan in June.

Andrew also featured in one NatWest T20 Blast clash against Durham Jets at New Road and then in the latter stages of the Royal London One-Day Cup group phase as a batsman.

The former Somerset player returned career best figures of 5-40 against Glamorgan at the Swalec Stadium in the Championship before the injury setback.
