BANTON SMASHES UNBEATEN 139 FOR ACADEMY IN T20 MATCH

Jacques Banton produced a remarkable innings for Worcestershire Academy who overcame Ireland Under-19s by 54 runs in a T20 match at Barnt Green today.

Banton, part of the 2018-2019 Academy intake, smashed 139 not out off just 70 balls with eight sixes and 15 fours.

He then added 56 for the third wicket with Ben Lees (16 off 14 balls) ) and an unbroken 80 for the fourth with Rohan Hesketh (16 not out).

The Academy totalled 201-3 in their 20 overs.

The home side’s bowlers then got to work and the new ball attack of Josh Baker (4-0-16-3) and George Marshall (4-0-24-1) reduced Ireland to 33-4.

Aaron Tomson (4-0-44-3) whittled away at the middle order and then Dan Holland (2-0-7-2) polished off the tail.
