Barnard Chips In With Bat And Ball In Championship

Ed Barnard has made useful contributions with ball and bat during Worcestershire's opening six Specsavers County Championship matches.

The former England Under-19 player has taken 17 wickets at an average of 26.59 and is on course to surpass last season's tally of 31 which was the County's second highest tally behind Joe Leach.

He has also chipped in with 208 runs at an average of 26.00 batting primarly at number seven after being promoted up the order this summer.

Daryl Mitchell remains top of the batting averages despite scores of 0 and 18 against Glamorgan with 583 runs at 58.30.

His opening partner, Brett D'Oliveira, is the next highest run-scorer with 334 at 30.36.

Once again skipper Leach is currently out on his own at the top of the wicket-taking lists for Worcestershire with 33 at 18.63 runs apiece.

Next in line is Josh Tongue with 21 in his debut season of senior cricket including a career best of 6-97 in his last Championship outing against Glamorgan at New Road.
