Barnard Set To Make First Seconds Appearance Of Summer In Derby Meeting

England Under-19 batsman Ed Barnard is set to make his first appearance of the summer for Worcestershire Seconds in the four-day friendly with Warwickshire Seconds at Barnt Green CC starting tomorrow (Tuesday).

Barnard, who was part of the Under-19 squad during the winter World Cup, has been tipped as a potential future captain of the side by team manager John Abrahams.

The 18-year-old has been completing his education at Shrewsbury School before joining up with the county on a summer contract.

He will then take up a full contract for the 2015 campaign along with England Under-19 team-mate Joe Clarke who will keep wicket against Warwickshire.

Matt Pardoe, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Ross Whiteley, who played in the LV = County Championship win over Leicestershire last week, are part of the squad along with NatWest T20 Blast duo Richard Oliver and Brett D'Oliveira.

All-rounder Shaaiq Choudhry will captain the side, fresh from his superb century in last week's win over Glamorgan at Kidderminster when the Seconds chased down a 411 target in the Second Eleven Championship.
