Brett To Return To South Africa To Play For St. Augustine’s

Brett D'Oliveira is returning to South Africa this winter to play for St. Augustine's – the club where his grandfather and Worcestershire legend Basil D'Oliveira first made his name – near to Cape Town.

Worcestershire all-rounder Brett had a previous spell with St. Augustine's in 2011 but had to cut it short following the death of Basil.

Basil used to walk 10 miles from home every match day morning to help prepare the matted wicket St. Augustine's used to play on.

Brett said: "I have booked my flights to Cape Town so I fly out there on October 8 and am looking forward to that, getting away from the winter and the snow!

"It will be nice to have some sunshine and play some good cricket out there. I'm playing for St. Augustine. This will be my first full year.

"I went out there before but obviously my grandad passed away and I had to come back. This will be my first full year so I'm looking forward to it.

"It's a good standard. They have just got promoted so they are in the top division so it should be some hard cricket and I'm looking forward to it.

"If I'm not opening, then I'll be in the top four which will give me plenty of opportunities which is good."
