Steve Rhodes admitted Worcestershire were undone by"world class bowling" after they suffered a 10 wicket defeat at the hands of champions Yorkshire in their opening LV = County Championship Division One clash of the campaign.
Worcestershire earned a narrow first innings lead of four runs after bowling out Yorkshire for 307 by claiming the final wicket of Tim Bresnan early on the third morning.
But two sessions later the match was all over as Jack Brooks, Tim Bresnan and Steve Patterson produced high quality performances to dismiss the home side for 100.
Then openers Alex Lees and Will Rhodes saw the visitors through to victory in 17 overs.
Rhodes said: "That first session cost us dearly. Sometimes you really do have to take your hat off to the opposition and I thought Tim Bresnan and Jack Brooks bowled fine opening spells.
"The line and length they bowled, and the aggression with the line and length, and the movement of the ball made batting very difficult.
"It was world class bowling, like Test match bowling if not better, because they hardly bowled a bad ball and we couldn't get away.
"I take my hat off to Yorkshire, I think that session changed the game and it was more they went about it which was particularly impressive.
"Patterson does what Shants does a bit for us, sometimes a little bit less pace and you feel as if you need to start feeling for the ball and he nibbles the ball around and you lose your wicket.
"If you look at Patterson last year, his line and length was impeccable and you put together the other two and Sidebottom, who is now injured, and you can see why their attack won them the Championship."
