Bumpy: Munro Will Add To County Batting Fire-Power

Bumpy: Munro Will Add To County Batting Fire-Power

Colin Munro makes his second 'debut' for Worcestershire Rapids tonight with Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes believing the left hander will add to the already considerable fire-power in the batting line-up.

Munro will play his first innings against Leicestershire Foxes at New Road (5.30pm start) since smashing a world record 23 sixes for a first class match for Auckland against Central Districts on March 24.

It was a demonstration of the awesome hitting that Rhodes first saw during the county's 2014 tour of Abu Dhabi when they faced the Black Caps in a T20 match.

Rhodes said: "We know Colin is a dangerous player, the opposition know that. We were lucky in having a glimpse of his hitting ability in Abu Dhabi.

"When you dig a bit deeper and look at his ratio of fours and sixes, it is very high.

"When we signed Andre Russell, you look at his ratio of fours and sixes and it is also high. That is a bit of a yardstick when you are looking for a power player in T20.

"We've also got Ross Whiteley, Ben Cox, Brett D'Oliveira, Richard Oliver and Moeen Ali when he plays.

"We've got plenty that can hit the ball and there were some exciting matches last year when we did that. Durham here rings a bell, also Derbyshire here when Ross got runs.

"There were plenty of occasions when we showed our power."
