Charlie Morris reflected on last season's challenges after the two previous years of success and insists: "I learnt a lot more about myself."
The Worcestershire paceman had to contend with an enforced change to his bowling action after picking up 96 Championships in 2014 and 2015.
Morris would often be seen out in the middle during lunch or tea trying to come to terms with the alterations with bowling coach Matt Mason
But Morris approached the task in typically positive fashion and now looks back at the trials and tribulations of 2016 in a similar way.
He said: "I learnt a lot last year. Of course, there were some downs but I thought it was great because I managed to learn a heck of a lot more about myself.
"It's really helped me. I've never taken cricket for granted.
"Every day I think 'I'm one of the luckiest guys in the world to do this job' and it hasn't come without a heck of a lot of hard work to get here.
"To go through that was a real challenge, physically and mainly emotionally, mentally. I had many an hour at home, not sleeping, and having to try and get the excitement of training and stuff when you are having to go through something like that.
"It was certainly a challenge and it has just made me again appreciate this opprtunity I have to play cricket.
"For that reason, there are so many positives to take from it, not only into cricket but probably for the rest of my life."
Morris added: "I was always very determined to overcome it (the challenge of a new bowling action) and I've never let anything get in the way of that.
"I'm just looking forward to getting stuck into this season now and hopefully being an asset for Worcestershire."
