CLARK AND HINKLEY IN FORM WITH THE BAT FOR COUNTY UNDER-17S

Pete Clark and Alex Hinkley hit half centuries for Worcestershire Under-17s on the opening day of their ECB County Championship match with Gloucestershire at Bishopston CC, Bristol.

Opener Clark made 54 off 114 balls with 10 fours and added 68 for the second wicket with Xavie Clarke (31).

Clarke was third out at 127 after putting on a further 45 with Hinkley.

The stream of useful partnerships continued as Dan Holland (17) and Hinkley, who made a quickfire 55 off 65 balls with 10 boundaries, added 54 but both were dismissed within two runs of each other.

Worcestershire were then 183-5 and an additional 48 were put on by Oliver Walker (35) and keeper Henry Cullen (32).

The last four wickets fell for 19 runs with Alex Russell returning figures of 24-5-66-5.

Worcestershire paceman Henry Marshall came on first change and removed both openers as the home side ended the day on 107-2 from 26 overs.

Marshall finished with 2-28 from seven overs.
