Clarke And Whiteley In Contention For Lions 50 Overs Opener

Clarke And Whiteley In Contention For Lions 50 Overs Opener

Joe Clarke and Ross Whiteley will be looking to return to England Lions action tomorrow and hoping to help England complete a quickfire double over Pakistan 'A'

The Worcestershire duo are part of the squad in contention to play in five 50 over matches against Pakistan 'A' in the next 11 days in Dubai.

Clarke has played in both warm-up matches against the United Arab Emirates, scoring 24 and two, while Whiteley played in the second match, being run out for four.

The pair were involved in the squad which defeated the same opponents 3-2 in a thrilling T20 series last month in Dubai.

Whiteley played all five matches and played a couple of useful late order cameo roles with the bat.

But Clarke was restricted to just one appearance in the opening game of the series before being side-lined with a quad injury.

Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes is again part of the Lions coaching team.

The schedule for the five 50 over games is:

Match one – 20 January

Match two – 22 January

Match three – 25 January

Match four – 28 January

Match five – 30 January
