Worcestershire wicket-keeper Joe Clarke was amongst the thick of the action for England Under-19s in the first Test with South Africa at Fenners.
Clarke went into the game full of confidence after his 222 for Worcestershire Seconds against MCC Young Cricketers at Kidderminster – the highest score by a county player in the Second Eleven Championship.
But it is with the gloves that he has so far made an impression for the Under-19s with four catches in South Africa's first innings total of 433 all out from 138.2 overs.
One of Clarke's victims provided a wicket for his New Road colleague Ed Barnard.
Barnard ended the near five hour innings of South African opener Ryan Rickelton who made 76 off 229 balls with 10 fours.
He finished with figures of 1-52 from 16 overs.
However, Barnard only contributed six from 24 balls with the bat before he was trapped lbw by Bongumusa Makhanya who is the South African captain.
England closed the day on 28-2 from 19.5 overs.
