Charlie Clist and Jujhar Johal took the honours for Worcestershire Academy on the opening day of their two-day match with Ireland Under-19s at Stourbridge.

Opener Clist hit 151 off just 159 balls – after the Academy had opted to bat – out of their 252-8 declared in their first innings.

Johal picked up four wickets in the space of just five balls as Ireland Under-19s closed the day on 235-7 with honours even between the two sides.

Clist struck four sixes and 17 fours and shared in a second wicket partnership of 90 with Johal (30 off 66 balls, three fours).

He added a further 59 for the fifth wicket with Fahd Janjua (35 off 36 balls, six fours).

Clist was eventually eighth out at which point the Academy declared.

In reply, the Ireland Under-19s top order batsmen all made useful contributions with Poskett top-scoring with 75.

He was dismissed by Johal who then struck with successive balls in one over and repeated the feat in his next over as Ireland subsided from 221-4 to 228-8 in quickfire time.

Johal ended the day with figures of 9-1-34-5.
