Billy Ocean will be one of the head-liners at Worcestershire CCC's Concert Of Legends at New Road on September 9 – but there are more to come!

Managing Director Jon Graham confirmed there will be two more leading acts to be announced in the near future for the all-day event.

It will be the second 'Legends' concert at the County Ground after the success of the 2016 venture which was head-lined by reggae giants UB40.

Early Bird tickets priced just £35 went on sale via the Worcestershire CCC website this morning at 9am.

Billy Ocean, who took his stage name from the Ocean Estate in the East End where he lived, enjoyed a string of massive hits in the 1970s and 1980s.

His initial burst of success came via 'Love Really Hurts Without You' and 'Red Light Spells Danger' which both reached number two in the UK charts.

But even bigger success came via the likes of 'Caribbean Queen', 'Suddenly', and the UK number one 'When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going.'

He also enjoyed a trio of chart-toppers in the USA via 'Caribbean Queen', 'There'll Be Sad Songs To Make You Cry' and 'Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car.'

Top 10 albums were also achieved in this country with 'Suddenly'. 'Love Zone' and 'Tear Down The Walls.'

Ocean returned to touring after a 15 year break and is one of the hottest properties on the revival circuit.

Graham said: "The initial feedback on social media is good and, for a concert of Legends, Billy Ocean fits the bill perfectly.

"He's sold millions and millions of records and I couldn't believe how many top songs he has done and how many hits he has enjoyed.

"But there will be THREE main head-lining acts and we will announce head-liner number two in the next week or so."

Graham added: "The artists are important but I also think a lot of word would have got out about the actual day at the first Legends concert.

"It tapped into an audience that no-one had really tapped into in Worcester.

"The fact it's the same weekend as last year, the kids will be back from the school holidays and people will want something to look forward to, it's absolutely perfect."
