Worcestershire will look to bounce back in Sunday's clash with Sussex at Hove after going down by 10 wickets to reigning champions Yorkshire in their opening LV County Championship Division One match at New Road.
The home side had matched their opponents during the opening two days of their first fixture back in the top flight after last season's promotion campaign and even obtained a small first innings advantage.
But an attack hailed as the best in the country in the lead-up to the game by Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell again showed its quality on the third day despite the absence of the injured Ryan Sidebottom.
Fine bowling by Jack Brooks – for the second time in the game – and Steve Patterson, plus a couple of undistinguished shots, resulted in Worcestershire being bowled out for 100 in 35.3 overs.
Then the Tykes openers Alex Lees (52 not out) and Will Rhodes (45 not out) enabled their side to reach their 105 target before tea in 17 overs.
Worcestershire collected six points for their efforts, three for batting and three for bowling from a side who look as if they will again be serious title contenders particularly when their England contingent and skipper Andrew Gale are available.
Yorkshire had resumed on 298-9 and Worcestershire paceman Gareth Andrew completed a five wicket haul when Tim Bresnan was caught at third slip for a fine 83.
Yorkshire were dismissed for 307 – four runs adrift of Worcestershire's first innings total of 311.
Ryan Sidebottom required a runner after suffering a calf injury yesterday and he finished unbeaten on 14.
Andrew finished with 5-85 with Shantry (4-65) were the main wicket-takers.
Brooks, who had returned 5-56, in Worcestershire's first innings, again did most of the early damage.
But it was Bresnan, taking the new ball in place of the injured Sidebottom, who trapped Richard Oliver lbw for one after he had offered no shot.
Moeen Ali got off the mark in impressive fashion with a cover drive for four off the former England paceman.
It was his only scoring shot before he edged a fine delivery from Brooks to Jack Leaning at second slip.
A lifting delivery from Brooks was nicked by Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell (8) to Alex Lees at first slip. Alex Gidman (4) was caught behind by Andrew Hodd off Brooks with the total 21-4.
First innings century-maker Tom Fell and Tom Kohler-Cadmore dug in to add 27 in 14 overs.
Fell turned Bresnan off his legs for four and Kohler-Cadmore drove Will Rhodes to the boundary as well as thick edging the same bowler to the ropes.
Steve Patterson picked up two wickets in two balls with Fell (14) caught at first slip by Lees and Ben Cox (0) adjudged lbw.
At lunch-time Kohler-Cadmore was unbeaten on 15 and Andrew nought not out out of 55-6.
Kohler-Cadmore twice leg glanced Brooks for four when he returned to the attack after the interval.
The former Malvern College pupil made 24 before pulling a short ball from Brooks to Patterson at mid on.
Jack Shantry adopted an aggressive approach and picked up three fours in an over from Bresnan.
Andrew, who hit a fine 59 in the first innings, made 16 before hitting a length delivery from Patterson to Brooks at mid on.
Sachithra Senanayake's lavish drive off Patterson resulted in him falling for 13 to a fine diving catch by Will Rhodes at cover and the innings ended when the same bowler trapped Charlie Morris lbw for nought.
Patterson finished with 5-11 from 7.3 overs and Brooks 4-28 to give him match figures of 9-84.
