COUNTY ALL-ROUNDER BARNARD HELPS SCARBOROUGH COMPLETE T20 DOUBLE

Ed Barnard’s side, Scarborough, will bid to complete a hat-trick of Western Australia Cricket Association T20 wins tomorrow (Sunday) when they visit Midland-Guildford.

The Worcestershire all-rounder was part of the side which defeated Gosnells by 65 runs and Wanneroo by eight wickets in Group A of the four-section competition.

Barnard reverted to T20 action for the first time since helping the Rapids achieve Vitality Blast glory in September.

In the opening match against Gosnells, Barnard batted at number four and struck 30 off 21 balls after Scarborough had been put into bat.

The England Lions player hit one six and two fours and came in at 64-2 and was fourth out at 125 as Scarborough totalled 160-5 in their 20 overs.

Gosnells never threatened to reach their target and were restricted to 95-9.

Against Wanneroo, Barnard had only a bit part to play after Scarborough’s opponents totalled 117-7 after choosing to bat.

A second wicket stand of 106 between Lochie Hardy (60 not out) and Jeremy Boyle (56) meant Barnard only had time to make one not out before victory was secured.

The top two in each of the four groups go through to the knockout stages in the New Year.
