COUNTY AND CRICKET BOARD LAUNCH ‘ONE CLUB’ WORCESTERSHIRE CLUBS PLAYER OF THE WEEK COMPETITION

COUNTY AND CRICKET BOARD LAUNCH ‘ONE CLUB’ WORCESTERSHIRE CLUBS PLAYER OF THE WEEK COMPETITION

worcestershire ccc and worcestershire cricket board are launching the ‘one club’ worcestershire club player of the week competition to highlight the achievements of cricketers throughout the county.

a panel will select the six best individual performances each weekend from club cricketers competing in the worcestershire county league or any worcestershire affiliated club playing in the birmingham & district premier league.

the public will then have a 48 hour period to vote each week – via the worcestershire ccc official website – to decide who has produced the top performance from the selected six candidates.

each club player of the week winner will receive two tickets for any match of their choice at New Road this summer. in addition to this, at the end of the season, there will be an overall player of the season who will win an annual worcestershire ccc membership for 2020.

worcestershire ccc marketing manager joe tromans said: “the competition is part of the one-club philosophy at New Road and we are really interested in connecting and celebrating all cricket in worcestershire together.

“it is good to highlight performances from clubs throughout the county and we are keen to know how people perform at all levels.

“this competition enables those performances to gain a bit more exposure and the winner each week will receive a pair of tickets for any game of their choice at New Road this summer”

“with league cricket in the county starting this weekend, we wish cricketers at all levels an enjoyable season ahead”

worcestershire cricket development director tom hill added “we’re excited to see the start of the new season and what the newly restructured birmingham league and worcestershire county league brings.

“this is a great initiative to connect the game from top to bottom and to recognise and celebrate individual performances across the game each and every week.  we wish all of our clubs, players and volunteers the very best in the 2019 season.”
